Testimonials

Having just returned from spending a night in the Nuremore (Saturday 19th April), I wanted to write and congratulate you on a wonderful product and outstanding staff.  I was with a group of lady golfers. Your bedrooms are very comfortable, spotless, spacious and relaxing.  The food in the Restaurant is delicious and very nicely presented.  The Golf Course is very well maintained and the greens are in super condition.  I hope to return to the Nuremore in the near future - it was a little bit of heaven away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin

"A restless, self-critical team, who are always looking to improve their offer, explains the enduring success of the Nuremore in all its myriad ways.  They dont rest at the Nuremore, and if you know owner Julie Gilhooly and chef Raymond McArdle, that wouldn't surprise you one bit.  They are restless people, always looking to tweak, improve, make better, make new, to show their latest influences and styles, inspirations and the fruits of their travelling and eating.

As he gets a little older, Ray McArdle is simplifying the rich cooking that has made his name, making sure he is in step with - and indeed one step ahead of - an audience who want to eat well, but a little more lightly.  The food is beautifully, obsessively accomplished, and make sure to stay two nights at least.

"Recent visits by the Guide have confirmed the excellence of the cooking, seen in perfectly executed and well-flavoured dishes like an exquisitely luxurious signature dish, roast tranche of foie-gras with spiced brioche and with smoked duck and artichoke salad.

From a choice of six or seven equally appealing main courses on the dinner menu, dishes like fillet of turbot in lobster bisque with tortellini, organic spinach and thermidor sauce vie with other house specialities such as a glorious celebration of pork-roast fillet, braised stuffed trotter & crisp confit, with fried cabbage, apple chutney & midleton jus.

Everything, it seems, is similarly impressive - and, on the dessert menu also he continues his liking for taking a single ingredient and presenting it in three ways, in dishes like a deliciously light and refreshing apple & ginger creme caramel, with apple jus and apple crisps - and rhubard and custard, cooked three ways.

A selection of French and Irish cheeses comes with a walnut broiche - and wonderful petits fours are served with cappuccino or expresso. This is exceptional cooking."

"11 out of 10!! with every visit we are even more impressed! we dont know how but the food really does get better and better.  After disappointing weather for golf, we always had a simply fantastic meal in the evening to look forward to, both in quality and presentation.  A huge amount of thought and work must go on behind the scenes (would love to be a fly on the wall).  Although the golf course was wet the expansive green were unbelievable good, wish we had same on our home course.  New and old faces this time did their upmost to make our stay happy and enjoyable.  The special offers are the very best of value - we are so very lucky!

"We had a terrific gathering with the local (Monaghan/Meath/Dundalk) Irish Life Pensioners and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their 'day out' in the Nuremore.

We were looked after exceptionally well (as usual) by all your staff, from the lad who set up the room for our Mass through to the very friendly and efficient Receptionists, Bar and Restaurant Staff.

Everybody present spoke very highly of the Nuremore and of the reception which we have now been running each year for our pensioners in the Nuremore for the past 15 years or so.

The Meal and service were superb as always.

The three of us who stayed overnight after the function had a game of Golf afterwards (always a pleasure doing business with Maurice) and we had a wonderful relaxing dinner in your Restaurant that evening....and were looked after very well by the Restaurant Staff.

I can NEVER think of ANYTHING to complain about in all the years I have been staying in the Nuremore or making it my halfway stop when visiting my relations in Tyrone......that connection goes back over 40 years now when the Nuremore was only a very small fraction of what it is today.

I could go on and on with praise for your Hotel and Staff but suffice to end by assuring you that WE WILL BE BACK "
Eamon McAree, Irish Life Pensioners, April 2006

"To all the Staff at the Nuremore Hotel

My partner and I have just returned from a very pleasant weekend at your hotel. We came for our friends wedding which was held on Saturday night.

We both wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay and how much the staff in the hotel made it a very special weekend.

We felt the quality of the food and service was outstanding. Our room was of a very high standard and very comfortable. We felt that the hotel was extremely capable of organising large functions in an extremely seamless and professional manner.

As an events organiser myself I understand the hard work that goes on behind the scenes - you made it all look effortless.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Nuremore to anyone wanting a special weekend or a venue for a conference/event in Ireland.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR A GREAT WEEKEND".

"As a director of a graphic design and printing company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, it is always pleasant to get away from the hectic pace which the printing industry is associated with.

In 1999 I was looking for a base for a party of 12 golfers to spend some time away for a short golfing break and I came across The Nuremore Hotel, Well what a delight!

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is surrounded by what can only best be described as a “golfing jewel”.

It is a short stroll from the Hotel to the Clubhouse where all manner of golf related equipment is on sale. This is only surpassed by the friendly handshake which awaits you from the Golf Professional, Maurice Cassidy.

The Hotel itself affords the ambience you would expect from such a fine establishment and the cuisine served in the hotel and the excellent service from the staff all makes for a very pleasant stay. So much so that we have been back every year since.

I hope on a personal basis, to spend many years coming back to the Nuremore and I would thoroughly recommend this “gem” to any would be golfer or indeed, anyone travelling through this part of Ireland".
Marc Steenson, Director, Three Creative Company, Belfast, July 2006

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for all the assistance provided during our recent event staged at your facility, the North East Food Forum.

The property could not have been more ideal for the purpose; the flexibility it provides makes it a very adaptable location for the various types of events we frequently run.

Thank you all again and I hope we get an opportunity to work together again in the future".
Denise Murphy, Bord Bia Conference, June 2006

As usual, Brian and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Nuremore (we think this must be our 8th consecutive year). There is just nothing to equal what is offered to us, the food (quality, quantity and presentation), the golf and golf course (where Maurice Cassidy will always be a bonus to any golfer with his wit, personality and outstanding friendliness), any staff of the hotel which we have met or come into contact with, the lovely deluxe room which we occupied and lastly the fantastic offers themselves which appear so often throughout the year by email and which nowhere else that we know of could possibly equal.  We have even had the most generous weather. We felt honoured to have been entered in the Golf Classic and to have played with such lovely people.

What else could one ask for!!

Until the next time....
